Our Beliefs

Mission Statement

Intermission strengthens communities, people and the arts, by bringing theatres and audiences together in a mutually affordable and beneficial way. Intermission recognizes that access to the arts can frequently be limited to affluent people, and we seek to break down these barriers. In particular, we believe that the theatrical arts are an expression of humanity, and an act of sharing culture and thought, which should and must be made available to all people. Intermission strives to link those who cannot access theatre with theatres that have an interest in building a community bond, by providing free tickets to performances and educational seminars, without causing the theatre to lose revenue.

Statement of Purpose

Intermission exists to show that education is interactive, collaborative and expressive. Intermission exists to show that theatre is an expression of humanity. Intermission exists to show that to educate about and with humanity is to welcome individuals to a world of thought, creativity and community. Intermission exists to show that theatre cannot be ignored or overlooked, just as no member of society should be ignored or overlooked. Intermission exists to grow a community of strangers bound with art.
